Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea that "24bit Flac" was even there as an option.

I've fixed that now and selected "24bit FLAC" as the file type. I had actually made a mistake there, and had not intended to allow derivates for the 24 bit version, so the derivates are now only available for the 16 bit source.

I remembered reading somewhere that there are not really any mp3 encoders that did a good job with 24 bit source files that had not been pre-dithered/resampled, so my intention had been to have the derivates go along only with the 16 bit file sets.

Ditto on not knowing that was even an option--maybe it should be mentioned in the .pdf and text file descriptions of "How do I upload a show to the LMA?" :

I've wondered about the derivatives for 24-bit shows, too. If it's decided that we shouldn't allow them, perhaps the option to create them shouldn't be listed as "recommended" for 24-bit FLAC fileset2 (if that's possible).

I've wondered about the derivatives for 24-bit shows, too. If it's decided that we shouldn't allow them, perhaps the option to create them shouldn't be listed as "recommended" for 24-bit FLAC filesets (if that's possible).

But that option *is* still recommended. I think your confusion is that you associate "derivatives" strictly with MP3's and Ogg's, when in fact it could be a number of other formats depending on the source files. -- If you upload a scanned book, we don't create MP3's yet we still recommend them because the system has been designed to respond to you telling us what format file is being provided. In this case you input "24bit FLAC" from the dropdown, and the system does not have any possible derivatives (yet).

However, we may add something in the future if we find it complements FLAC's, and we'd like you to allow this on your uploads.

As always, your choice though.
